Remembering Mets History (2017): Jose Reyes Game Winning Hit


Thursday July 29th 2017: Terry Collins Mets (43-50) hosted Mike Matheny's St. Louis Cardinals (46-49) in this afternoon matinee at Citi Field in front of 39,640 as Seth Lugo went up against Lance Lynn.



Starting Lineups





The Mets scored first as Lucas Duda led off the 2nd with his 17th HR of the year. 
In the 6th Matt Carpenter walked & scored on Tommy Pham's double. Pham would strike again in the 8th when he homered off Erik Goeddel putting the Cards ahead 2-1. 

In the bottom of the 8th, Wilmer Flores took Brett Cecil deep for his 8th HR of the year, tying up the game at two.

In the home 9th, the Cards had Trevor Rosenthal on the hill & Michael Conforto led off with a walk, He was forced on Yoenis Cespedes ground out. With two outs, T.J. Rivera singled to left field. Jose Reyes then came up & delivered the game winning walk off base hit, an infield grounder to first in which Cespedes scored.

It was to be Jose Reyes last walk off game winning hit, it was only his second career Mets walk off, his last coming in 2005.
