Remembering Mets History (2015) The Mets Eleven Game Win Streak
Sunday April 12th, 2015: On this night Terry Collins New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 at Turner Field. The win put them at .500 (3-3) on the new season.
It was a good night, and no one knew it at the time, but the start of some good things that would take the Mets all the way to the World Series.
Bart- Big Sexy: The legend of Folk Hero Bartolo Colon also known as "Big Sexy" began to grow.
Also, at bat Bartolo collected a 4th inning RBI base hit off Alex Wood scoring Wilmer Flores, breaking a 2-2 tie. It was Colon's first RBI in ten years, his last coming in 2005 with the Angels.
On this night, Jeurys Familia notched his first save of the season. It was the start Familia becoming one of the league's top closers in 2015, as he would save 43 games tying a then Mets record.
This victory was the start of the Mets 11 game win streak that would put them in first place & start making everyone believe this team was on to good things.
April 13th- April 15th: The Mets home opener was an exciting one as there was lots of hope for the 2015 season. The Mets opened up a ten-game home stand at Citi Field, starting out with a three-game sweep of the lowly Philadelphia Phillies. That year the Phillies finished last at 63-99, falling short of 100 losses by one game.
Jacob deGrom earned his first win of the year, as he went into the 7th inning shutting out the Phillies on seven hits & three K's. A bullpen of Carlos Torres, Jerry Blevins & Jeurys Familia finished off the combined 2-0 shut out.
On April 15th, former Mets Al Jackson & Mookie Wilson threw out the ceremonial first pitches on Jackie Robinson Night. The Mets completed the Philly Sweep with Lucas Duda & Travis d'Arnaud hitting solo HRs. Juan Lagares & pitcher Jon Niese added RBI hits as well in the 6-1 victory.
April 16th- April 19th: The Miami Marlins rolled into town for a four-game weekend set series. On Thursday, Giancarlo Stanton hit one of his long blasts, along with Martin Prado also connecting off Mets pitcher Dillon Gee. But in the home 5th, Wilmer Flores hit a three-run shot off Jared Cosart tying up the game.
Daniel Murphy & Juan Lagares had back-to-back RBI base hits putting the Mets up 2-1. Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a bases loaded walk for the Mets third run. Ruben Tejada provided the big blow with a bases clearing three run double. Travis d'Arnaud added another RBI single making it 7-1.
April 21st- April 23rd: The Mets hosted the Atlanta Braves for the final three games of the home stand. On Tuesday night, Curtis Granderson collected three hits with two RBI singles & an RBI ground rule double for a multi-four RBI game. Juan Lagares added two RBIs with an RBI single & a sac fly.
On Wednesday night April 22nd, the Mets had a come from behind win. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Wilmer Flores tied the game with a HR off Cody Martin. Flores had driven in the Mets first run earlier in the game as well.
On the mound, once again Bartolo Colon excited the crowd with his fourth straight win to get to 4-0 with a 2.77 ERA. Jeurys Familia earned his eighth save all coming during the eleven-game win streak.
In the home 1st, the Braves Julio Teheran walked three Mets batters & Daniel Murphy's three run double cleared the bases giving the Mets a 3-0 lead. Colon surrendered three runs & the game was tied up by the 4th inning.

In the 7th inning with the score tied at five, walks to John Mayberry & Curtis Granderson put two on for Lucas Duda & Michael Cuddyer's RBI singles leading to the 7-5 win.
But Bart wasn't rattled & continued his fine pitching, not allowing another run through his seven innings of work. Jerry Blevins held it for Jeurys Familia who earned his fifth save of the week.
Bartolo Colon even collected another RBI with a sac fly putting up the Mets first run. Eric Campbell had another sac fly RBI as well, with Michael Cuddyer collecting his fourth RBI in his last six games. In the 8th, Daniel Murphy hit an RBI double sealing the 4-1 win.
On Saturday night, Jacob deGrom pitched seven shutout innings, while striking out eight Marlins while issuing no walks.
Travis d'Arnaud & Wilmer Flores led the way with HRs, as Juan Lagares & Eric Campbell added RBI hits as well.

Mets reliever gave up three runs in the 9th before Alex Torres sealed the save. The Marlins Dee Stange-Gordon collected five hits on the night as well.
On Sunday, the Mets completed the sweep, extending the win streak to eight games. In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Mets sent 12 men to the plate scored seven runs & collected six hits with three walks. Curtis Granderson & Travis d'Arnaud led off with base hits, then Lucas Duda walked to load up the bases.

April 21st- April 23rd: The Mets hosted the Atlanta Braves for the final three games of the home stand. On Tuesday night, Curtis Granderson collected three hits with two RBI singles & an RBI ground rule double for a multi-four RBI game. Juan Lagares added two RBIs with an RBI single & a sac fly.
Jonathon Niese earned his second win on the season, giving up just one run in 6.2 innings to get to 2-0. He even collected an RBI when he reached on an error. Erik Goeddel, Alex Torres, Carlos Torres & Sean Gilmartin closed out the 7-1 win, the Mets ninth in a row.

In the bottom of the 8th with the score tied at 2-2, Curtis Granderson walked & Juan Lagares singled. Lucas Duda provided the game winning hit with an RBI single to left off Jim Johnson. In the 9th, Jeurys Familia came on for his 7th save.
April 23rd: On a chilly Thursday get away day matinee at Citi Field, centerfieldmaz, Darthmaz & the two UFs attended the final game of one of the most successful homestands the Mets ever had.

In the 7th inning, after centerfieldmaz was on the giant video screen winning concert tickets from Citi Field host Christina, the Mets added to the lead. Juan Lagares & Lucas Duda singled. Then Michael Cuddyer grounded out, but Juan Lagares scored making it 5-3.
New Braves Pitcher Luis Avilan then balked, sending Cuddyer to third. Daniel Murphy singled bringing home Cuddyer with the final run, capping off the 6-3 Mets win.
The Mets got off to the clubs best start at 13-3 since the 1986 Championship team. They were in first place with the best record in baseball & finished off the best home stand the club ever had.
