Wright had a big three days surrounding the All-Star Game as he was treated with celebrity status around New York City. He was elected HR Derby team Captain & hit five HRs of his own in the contest.
When he was announced during the pre-game introductions, he received a tremendous ovation from the hometown fans at Citi Field. It was just the third time in ten years that he did not get the honor. The Mets needed Wright & Curtis Granderson to have good seasons, which they did not. This was a big reason the team finished under .500.

On July 11th he hit what turned out to be his last HR of the season, it came against the Marlins at Citi Field in a 7-1 Mets win.

On April 14th, in just the eighth game of the season, Wright pulled a hamstring as he was attempting to steal a base. He was put on the 15-day DL, but things got a lot worse as he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Wright would end up missing four months of the season & his career was thought to be in jeopardy.
After a long rehab period, he was playing ball again at St. Lucie for eight games batting .321 in preparation for his return to New York.
On August 24th, Wright made his return to the Mets, finding himself on a first-place team with a five-game lead, fighting a playoff spot.

In the 7th inning, Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw walked three batters & was removed from the game with two outs. Wright came to bat against reliever Pedro Baez & welcomed him with a two-run single that helped the Mets to a 3-1 win.
Captain D. Wright was the offensive hero of the game, his game winning hit added to his legacy this late in his career.
Wright would not get another hit in the NLDS, going 0-14 in the next three games, although he did draw four walks with one run scored. He batted just .063 but did walk four times scoring a run.
