Taijuan Walker pitched seven shutout innings for his second win. The Mets bullpen of Adam Ottavino, Joley Rodriguez & Edwin Diaz closed the door in the last two innings of a 2-0 Mets win.

In the top of the 6th, Brandon Nimmo singled & got to third on an error by right fielder Randal Grichuk. Francisco Lindor started his RBI streak with a base hit to left. Pete Alonso drove in the second & final run with his league leading 37th RBI.

In the 8th with the bases loaded & the Mets down 8-6, he hit a bases loaded triple, putting the Mets ahead 9-8. Alonso brought in Lindor with a sac fly.

In the home 5th, Lindor tripled, bringing in the smoking hot hitting Luis Guillorme & Starling Marte. In the 7th with Guillorme & Marte both on again, Francisco singled, with his second hit of the night & third RBI (37 on the season). He also drew a walk on scored on Jeff McNeil's three run HR off Zach Eflin.

Sunday, May 29th, 2022: On this Sunday Night Baseball broadcast, the Mets faced off against
their old teammate Zack Wheeler. Chris Bassitt went up for the Mets in a good matchup.

The Mets got to Wheeler in the 1st, with the help of sloppy Phillie's fielding. Guillorme led off with a double that fell in between three Phillie fielders & then Marte singled.

A Lindor fielder's choice brought in the first run on another Phillie error. He continued his streak of driving in a run in seven straight games. Pete Alonso singled & two more runs came in on ground outs.

Wheeler settled in after that, holding the Mets down through six. Bassitt held down the Phillies to a run, but in the 8th, Adam Ottavino served up a three run HR to Nick Castellanos, giving the Phillies the lead. The Mets came back as newcomer Nick Plummer blasted a lead off 9th inning HR to tie it. The Mets won it on Eduardo Escobar's walk off double in the 10th.

The Mets swept the Phillies burying them 10.5 games behind them in the standings.

Memorial Day Monday, May 30th, 2022: Dave Martinez's Washington Nationals (18-31) came to town for three game set. They were facing the Mets (32-17) who were doing the best they ever had in been in franchise history, on Memorial Day. The Mets were riding high.

The Nats got three runs in the 1st inning off David Peterson. But the Mets came right back, in the bottom of the 1st, after two lead off singles from Luis Guillorme & Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor also singled bringing the Mets 1st run. It was the eighth straight game he had now driven in a run. Lindor then stole second as well.

In this 5-0 matinee, Carlos Carrasco got the win (6-1) even though he gave up five walks. He was a bit nervous as his dad was in the stands for the first time seeing him pitch. Seth Lugo, Ottavino & Diaz finished off the shut out.

Tomas Nido was the hitting star with three RBIs, Lindo extended his Mets streak, driving in a run in the 7th inning, on a line drive sac fly to centerfield, scoring Nido.

Trivia: Lindor now had the second longest streak RBI game streak in Mets history. He tied Mike Piazza by driving in runs in ten straight games. Piazza's 15 games streak in 2000 was the longest & Piazza's ten game streak in 1999 was second longest.

In the ten game he had 15 hits with two HRs, two triples & two doubles with 20 RBIs, he was now tied for second in NL in RBIs (43) to his teammate Pete Alonso (47). His hitting earned him the NL Player of the Week Award.
