Christian Scott: South Florida Born Mets Pitcher (2024 - 2025)
Christian David Scott was born June 15th, 1999, in Coconut Creek, Florida. Scott went to high school at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale. In his senior year there he was 11-0 with a 1.44 ERA.
Florida Gators: He then attended Florida State University where he pitched as a reliever on the Gators baseball team.
In his career he was 12-5 with a 3.72 ERA & three saves. In the 2021 Draft, Scott was drafted by the New York Mets as the 142nd overall pick. He would become became the 84th Gator to make the big leagues.
In 2022 Scott began his career at A ball Brooklyn & St. Lucie.In 2023 he rose thru the ranks being named the Mets Pitcher of the Year as he impressed across the minor league levels. At AA Binghamton where was 4-3 with a 2.47 holding opponents to a .199 batting average. He struck out 77 batters in 62.2 innings for a 10.98 strike outs per nine innings.
In 2024 he entered as the 99th best prospect in the minor leagues. He began the year at AAA Syracuse going 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA, he continued striking out hitters with 55 Ks in 42.1 innings of work.
Mets Career: On May 4th he was promoted & made his MLB debut in Tampa. Scott had a fine outing allowing one run thru 6.2 innings & striking out six, taking no decision in an eventual Mets loss.
On May 11th he took his first career loss giving up three runs including a HR to Orlando Arcia. His next start was in his hometown area of South Florida, facing the Marlins in front of local family & friends. In the 2nd inning he gave up a three run HR to Nick Fortes & eventually earned his second loss.
On May 31st he was optioned back to AAA Syracuse but returned on July 3rd. In his first start back, Scott gave up four runs to Nationals in D.C. taking no decision. He would get three more starts that month, taking another loss in Miami when Jazz Chisholm hit a 4th inning three run HR.
After that game he felt aching in his elbow. He was placed on the IL with a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament. By September it was determined he needed Tommy John Surgery & internal brace procedure. He will miss all of 2025.
Scott was 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA, striking out 39 batters & walking 12 in 47.1 innings of work in nine starts.
NHL Hockey Fan: Scott is a big fan of the NHL Florida Panthers. He got to meet his favorite player Aleksander Barkov while shopping in a local Publix supermarket.
